We will be in Parking Garage II, where we used to be in previous years. Because BRARA is doing Field Day at their new Shack we will have a lot less people at our FD. Therefor we will keep it small and run as 2A. This means 2 transmitters and probably no GOTA station to focus on the 2 run stations. Ron has arranged the Boca Fire Department comms van. Just as a reminder because people have seem to have forgotten this......we need to be able to tear down the van and have it available to Boca FD in under 20 minutes if there is an emergency where they need the van. Field Day setup will start at 8:30 AM June 25th at the parking garage. What we need is people, food and equipment (in that order...). People: If you intend on joining us please let me know so we can plan for food and drinks. Food: My initial plan is to BBQ for dinner on Saturday. John KE4IDW, can you make your famous beans? Any suggestions for Saturday lunch, Sunday Breakfast and Sunday lunch (during tear down)? Needs: - Food (based on suggested menu) - Coolers - Ice - Drinks - Snacks (especially for the midnight crew) Equipment: Our most urgent need is for a generator. Anybody can bring their generator? Current equipment list: Radio setup 1 - Lew K4LEW in garage - FT-897 - TS-60 (6M) - Lew's antennas Radio Setup 2 - Ron W2DO in comms van (making assumptions here.....) - IC-746 ?? Ron's radio - Antenna from the van Logging - Sjaak 2 laptops and interface for FT-897 and possibly Icom. I'm sure I'm missing a lot here....... Please make suggestions. I think we all had fun (I did). I would like to do a small write up and submit to ARRL but I did not keep track of everybody that visited us. >From the log I have the following operators: K4LEW, KE4HLL, KE4IDW, KE4KDL, KJ4RVL, KM4APD, W2DO and W4RIS. Of-course we had Hank, Gary and Shakeera for most if not all of the weekend joining us. Visiting us were Shirley, a student and FAU PD (I'm counting this a the "served agency" points). Who did I miss? We made a total of 293 contacts with 6 dupes (always log dupes!). >From my point of view I have the following remarks: - I did not read the FD manual so I'm sure we missed a lot of points and I told Alan, KM4APD to start at 12 on Saturday..... - Without -over- planning everything came together well. - The rehab van is still running strong and was easy to setup. For next year I would like to add a small beam (from T6) to the van so we can run on 10-15-20 easier. - I would like to have seen 6M, but this is my personal opinion as I have not worked 6M in a loooong time. - I was out of town last year but from what I heard parking garage 2 is preferred over parking garage 1. - The drone made hanging the long wire too easy...... but we should do that again next year.. - Forgot to take photos! Please let me know your remarks, good, bad and ugly.
