From wvandam at fau.edu Tue Oct 10 11:21:26 2017 From: wvandam at fau.edu (Willem Van Dam) Date: Tue, 10 Oct 2017 17:21:26 +0000 Subject: [List@K4FAU.org] October K4FAU meeting Message-ID: Hi All, Tomorrow is our October K4FAU meeting AND test session! In addition to eating hotdogs and exchanging hurricane stories i would like to discuss the following items: - Pick a DIY project that might be of interest to students. I'm thinking of a cheap RTL-SDR kit ($20) or a simple 40M receiver (http://www.qrpkits.com/ezseries.html). - Technicians class for the spring semester. - School Club Roundup (http://www.arrl.org/school-club-roundup). - Additional meetings for students at EE96 with demo's or guest speakers. - JOTA - Tower repair In addition to the above "lighter" subjects I would like to get everybody's opinion on possibly splitting the club in to 2 clubs. I've been in contact with the Gator ARC and they have a student club and a separate official alumni and friends club. The rules on students clubs at FAU are very strict. In the past we have done our own thing but as we get more and more students interested we need to start abiding to FAU's rules. In the lead-up to this years' Field Day I already ran in to some minor issues. Hope to see you all at T6 tomorrow.
